TAIWANESE PHONE MAKER HTC reportedly is gearing up to bring yet another mid-range phone to the smartphone market, as a handset called the HTC Zara has leaked online.
The leak comes via evleaks, which given its good track record with rumours suggests that the HTC Zara is the real deal. Hopefully HTC will decide to rename the handset before its release, though.
According to the leak that appeared on Twitter on Tuesday morning, the HTC Zara will be another mid-range alternative to the HTC One, following in the footsteps of the HTC One Mini. Unlike the One Mini though, the HTC Zara will have a casing constructed out of plastic yet offering a design similar to that of the flagship HTC One.
Within this casing the HTC Zara reportedly will feature a 4.5in qHD 960x540 LCD touchscreen, confirming its place within the firm's mid-range lineup. This reportedly will be powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8930 processor with 1GB of RAM and Google's latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean mobile operating system.
Perhaps most interestingly, the leak indicates that the Zara will feature HTC Sense 5.5, and it likely will be the first device to do so. It's still unclear what will be included in the upcoming iteration of HTC's Android user interface.
Other rumoured specifications include a 2,100mAh battery, an 8MP rear-facing camera, and - if the leaked image is anything to go by - a front-facing camera, Boomsound and integrated Beats Audio technology. It might be the last device to feature this audio technology, with Beats By Dr Dre reportedly looking to end its partnership with HTC.
The HTC Zara reportedly will be announced in the fourth quarter, suggesting that it could debut alongside the rumoured HTC One Max smartphone.
There's no word on availability yet, and HTC has said that it will not be commenting
